Sankara Eye Hospitals to collaborate with University of Bonn for Research & Training

Jun 10th, 2016: Eye care has seen immense strides in the past few decades. Sankara Eye Foundation, India is among the largest eye care providers in India. Recently for the purpose of enhancement in the arena of patient care, the foundation has collaborated with the University of Bonn, Germany.

Dr Kaushik Murali, President Sankara Eye Foundation India and Prof Holz, Head of Department of Ophthalmology, University of Bonn signed an understanding to collaborate in research, technology transfer and transmission of knowledge.

Speaking at the meeting Prof Holz said, “We are excited at the new partnership which would benefit us mutually. The collaboration would include, training of the respective faculty in subspecialty in ophthalmology, promote joint research and organize joint academic programmes.”

“It was interesting to see the level of research in rare eye diseases at the University of Bonn. This collaboration would also help Sankara Eye Hospital at Bangalore in establishing a similar centre for rare eye diseases”, shared Dr Kaushik.

Dr P Janakiraman, Mentor, Sankara Eye Foundation Indian and Dr Mahesh P Shanmugam, Head Vitreoretina & Ocular Oncology, Sankara Eye Foundation India were part of the delegation.
